T & R (Terrorist and Race.)

2008 October 10

I recently wrote a piece about my rather “filtered” opinions on how I feel about debates during current elections, and to that effect; elections and certain parts of politics in general. The general misinformation that is associated so vehemently witht the media campaigning process during this period of time, has been for me in the past, a very big pet peeve, and something that turns off the “enchantment” factor for me personally.

I get involved, I -do- educate myself. Hell, I even find myself educating my parents on topics, thanks to things like the internet (podcast, etc.) But the process is still one I hesitate to immerse myself in completely.

Kyle, over at omigod.net couldn’t have articulated it any better during his most recent post: “The Ignorance.”

This presidential race has been reduced to that one thing many of us knew it would be at some point. That “thing” that many of us talked about in the beginning, we made promises to each other that “America” was better than that. That “America” has supposedly come far from closet prejudices and days when fear and hate were the backbone for misunderstanding. Maybe we’re all wrong, and America is still populated, filled even, with race-haters (I’m -saying- it.) With bigoted, narrow minded, mass mentalities who are afraid to step up and speak up for change.

I see disgust in my parents faces when McCain talks about bringing home our soldiers from war with “respect” and “dignity.” My father served in Vietnam. I have uncles (brothers of brothers) who served in Vietnam. You want to talk about a country that sacrificed its own children in the name of “respect” and “dignity?” It’s probably better to not make my parent’s generation and their children a part of your “target” audience. Especially when our friends are there now, -for your country-, sacrificing what’s left of their self-respect and dignity for a war that’s long outlived its purpose.

If it ever had one in the first place. This was more of a rant than I had intended it to be. But it’s Friday, oh happy Friday!

The fact that John McCain and Sarah Palin continue to tell the Republican party that Barack Obama s a terrorist, makes me sick. He’s not even close.

They’ve resorted to very childish ways.
