This Is America.

2008 June 16

Are you watching?

This is America. This is where your child’s stay at home parent is a video game system that costs more than your average monthly car loan payment.

This is where parents push strollers with babies inside while talking on their cell phones, instead of just spending quiet time with their kids.

We are in -everything-, connected to the point of being so separated and isolated from each other that we forget how to actually speak, to engage.

This is where coffee shops are full of people working on lap tops, listening to mp3 players while answering their cell phones at the same time, instead of just having coffee talk.

This is where we hit each other to get close because words have become ineffective.

This is where we juice it up, rage it out, skirt responsibility and blame it on everything we consume.

This is where apathy becomes the solution and everyone is a target audience.

This is America. Don’t you want to be like us?
